Bunjil is the creator spirit of Wadawurrung country and the other 4 Traditional groups of the Kulin nations. Our sea country connects us to another Kulin group Bunurong, looking across the bay you will see Bunurong.
60,000 years ago, Bunjil soared high in the sky over Kulin country, Wadawurrung country. Using his big, Strong powerful wings and the air, he created the land, shaped the landscape, mountains, hills, valleys, rivers, people and animals.

We Acknowledge our Ancestors the Wadawurrung people whom for thousands of generations cared for Wadawurrung Country and Wadawurrung people. We are the Traditional Owners of this land through our ancestors, our bloodline and spirit.
“Our Wadawurrung country” Wadawurrung Dja is more than a place, it is our mother, our Mother Country it has cared nurtured and provided for Wadawurrung people since creation, and in return we continue to care for her. Our country is connected spiritually, interwoven from black hill, Granite hills, to creation stories, coastal cliffs, to rivers, saltwater country our plants species, medicines, foods, fibres, our peoples language. This is an ongoing continuing connection of our past, our cultural stories, knowledge, traditions and Cultural practices.
Wadawurrung Country encompasses the area Great Dividing Range in the North to the coast in the South from the Werribee River in the East and to Aireys inlet in the West. Includes large cities of Ballarat, Geelong, Bellarine and Torquay. Many name places throughout our country derive from Wadawurrung language, Djilang, Wirribi, Wyndouree, Bellawiyn,
