Life. Sustainability. Education.

The School of Lost Arts was founded on sustainable living principles. The restoration of the house and garden has included almost entirely the use of recycled materials, collection of rainwater, provision of solar energy generation and the re-introduction of wood-fired cooking in the kitchen.

The property offers a unique perspective to examine how aspects of the more self-sufficient life of the 1850s can be applied today.

The garden has been designed to be a seasonally changing environment for food production. The old bitumen tennis court was dug into and a large kitchen garden installed with vegetable beds, fruit trees, a beehive and hens.

We host workshops and events to encourage sustainable thinking as the first
principle for living.
